2Million Dollars Fraud At Zenith Bank Ajose Adeogun -Ajose Adeogun street, V.I

Three employees of Zenith Bank Plc national headquarters, Ajose Adeogun street, Victoria Island, Lagos State, have been arrested by the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Ikeja, Lagos for their alleged involvement in a $2m fraud.

Police sources told PUNCH Metro that a senior official of the bank, Ms. Olubukola Oritogun, and two others allegedly defrauded unsuspecting customers of the said sum. A fourth yet-to-be identifed person is said to be on the run.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Oritogun and her accomplices were allegedly in the habit of informing wealthy customers who wanted to buy dollars that there was a dollar account in the bank that they could purchase them from.

The source, who requested anonymity said, “Oritogun would inform some persons that if they wanted to buy dollars, it was available in the bank. She would make the account details available to the customer. Unknown to the victim, the dollar account is owned by another customer of the bank.

“The victim would then ask his own contact in the bank to check the account. Once it has been confirmed that the account indeed has a certain amount of dollars, the victim would then transfer the naira equivalent of what he wanted to buy to Oritogun in exchange for the dollars.”

She was said to have defrauded several persons in that manner until a complaint was lodged at SARS.

PUNCH Metro gathered that on the day of Oritogun’s arrest, she had already booked a flight to the United States and was preparing to flee the country.

It was learnt that the police had recovered N166m of the stolen funds.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, said she would call our correspondent back whe she was contacted.

The bank’s spokesperson, Mr. Victor Adoji, when contacted, said, “We actually detected the fraud first. We subsequently made a report to the Special Fraud Unit and they have started investigation. Some of our employees were arrested in connection with the case.

“As of now, we have feedback as regards the current state of investigation.

Marvel Comics is bringing Ms. Marvel back as a 16-year-old daughter of Pakistani immigrants living in Jersey City named Kamala Khan.

Teenage Ms Marvel will deal with adolescence, religion and superpowers

The character – among the first to be a series protagonist who is both a woman and Muslim – is part of Marvel Entertainment’s efforts to reflect a growing diversity among its readers while keeping ahold of the contemporary relevance that have underlined its foundation since the creation of Spider-Man and the X-Men in the early 1960s.

Writer G. Willow Wilson and artist Adrian Alphona, working with editor Sana Amanat, say the series reflects Khan’s vibrant but kinetic world, learning to deal with superpowers, family expectations and adolescence.

Amanat calls the series a “desire to explore the Muslim-American diaspora from an authentic perspective” and what it means to be young and lost amid expectations by others while also telling the story of a teenager coming to grips with having amazing powers.

“I wanted Ms. Marvel to be true-to-life, something real people could relate to, particularly young women.

High school was a very vivid time in my life, so I drew heavily on those experiences – impending adulthood, dealing with school, emotionally charged friendships that are such a huge part of being a teenager,” said Willow, whose previous comics work includes Vertigo’s “Cairo” and the series “Air.”

“It’s for all the geek girls out there and everybody else who’s ever looked at life from the fringe.”

She can grow and shrink her limbs and her body and, Willow said, ultimately, she’ll be able to shape shift into other forms.

The idea came after a discussion with senior editor Stephen Wacker as they compared stories about growing up.

From there it germinated into a “character for all those little girls who are growing up now the way you are growing up,” she recalled.

Wilson was brought on board to write the series and the team quickly got approval from Marvel’s creative committee to move forward.

DC Comics last fall relaunched its “Green Lantern” series with Simon Baz, an Arab American and Muslim.

The character reflects writer Geoff Johns’ Lebanese ancestry and his upbringing in the Detroit area.

There have been a few others: Marvel Comics has Dust, a young Afghan woman whose mutant ability to manipulate sand and dust has been part of the popular X-Men books. DC Comics in late 2010 introduced Nightrunner, a young Muslim hero of Algerian descent reared in Paris.

The creative team said that Khan’s backstory, growing up Muslim, is an element of the story, but not the critical foundation, either.

“Kamala is not unlike Peter Parker,” said Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso of the teenager turned wall crawler.

“She’s a 16-year-old girl from the suburbs who is trying to figure out who she is and trying to forge an identity when she suddenly bestows great power and learns the great responsibility that comes with it.”

Former US Ambassador Defies Forbes, Says Nigeria Has At least 115 Billionaires

Former US Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell has said that there are at least 115 US Dollar billionaires in Nigeria.

He made the revelation in his book titled “Nigeria – Dancing on the brink”. The Ambassador said that he received the information from a top New York investment bank executive with knowledge of offshore accounts and asset records of high profile Nigerians.

Forbes puts the number of dollar billionaires in Nigeria at 2, a gross understatement of the public wealth hidden in private pockets of politically exposed persons. However in their defense, Forbes only measures corporate assets i.e. wealth that can be traced to shareholdings in listed companies.

He stated this while describing the corruption in the Nigeria and the immense poverty plaguing the nation.

John Campbell was the US Ambassador to Nigeria between 2004 and 2007.

Pasuma’s Convoy Runs Over and Kills Fan In Lagos

A convoy of Wasiu Alabi Pasuma has crushed a teenage fan of the fuji star to death. The fan simply identified as Bidemi was killed by the artiste’s convoy at Idimu where Pasuma performed at an event at St. Augustine Events Hall along Lisau Road in Alimosho Area of Lagos on the 24th of October 2013.

The deceased who lived around Council Area of Idimu within the Isheri/Idimu LCDA had no knowledge that death was lurking around the corner when he sighted the music star and joined the cheering crowd who cheered the artiste after the event.

Pasuma had finished performing live and had wriggled his way through the crowd.

Eyewitnesses said that when Bidemi moved near to Pasuma, who had already taken his seats in his newly acquired Range Rover and was behind the wheel, the fuji artiste rammed into the teenage fan with his car and knocked him down while he was about to leave the venue in the midst of the cheering crowd.

It was said that Bidemi was writhing in discomfort on the spot following the accident when Pasuma’s security vehicle that was coming behind smashed the teenager’s head, and he died immediately.

According to eyewitnesses neither Pasuma nor his team spared a second to rescue the victim when they were told of the incident some few metres away. Instead they drove off amidst jeering cries from sympathizers.

Star actress Genevieve Nnaji also owns one. The one she’s wearing in the pics above. Now here’s how I know. When I was in Dubai recently, I went into a Rolex store…just to window shop. (Can’t afford one ) and while looking around I saw this particular watch that fell in love with. Asked how much it was and they told me $25, 000. (That’s N4million). Nah, that’s way too much for me, so I left the store and settled for something way less expensive.

So anyway, here I was minding my own business as usual *cough* when I spotted the exact same watch on Genny’s wrist. I know some of you will be like, yeah right, N4m my ass! But please trust me, that’s a Rolex watch. Now I don’t know where she got hers and how much she paid for it, but if you enter any Rolex store, that watch you see above is valued at $25, 000 and it’s not even one of their best pieces.

She’s obviously had that watch for a long time, because if you check some of her pics from last year, she was rocking that Rolex. Dear Genevieve, I want to be like you when I grow up. Hehe.

Xclusive Gist – Golden Eaglets are world champions

The Golden Eaglets, fuelled by a deafening atmosphere inside Zayed Stadium, brought El Tri down to their knees with an outstanding display to win the tournament for a fourth time

Nigeria made an easy meat of Mexico 3-0 to win the 15^th edition of the Fifa U17 World Cup played on Friday evening in Abu Dhabi.

A first half own goal by Erick Aguirre and a mid second half strike from Kelechi Iheanacho were all the highly-talented Nigerians needed to seal a fourth title on Asian soil.

The Golden Eaglets were in supreme form inside a rasping Stadium, ripping the defending world and Concacaf champions to continue their unbeaten run, and claim the trophy for a record fourth time, alongside their triumphs of 1985, 1993 and 2007.

El Tri dominated the early seconds of the tension-soaked encounter but were unable to near the rock solid Nigeria defence. Samuel Okon made the first attempt at goal in the fourth minute but his shot was not enough to threaten the Mexican goalie.

Few minutes later, Ivan Ochoa forced Dele Alampasu to a brilliant safe after his header was punched for a corner by the impressive Nigerian goalie. Mexico’s dominance was short-lived after Erick Aguirre’s own put the Garba Manu ahead in an attempt to clear away Taiwo Awoniyi’s well laid pass meant for Musa Yahaya.

Mexico launched a comeback but their attacking forays were brought under constant check by the Musa Muhammed anchored defence. Alampasu made another brilliant save midway in the first half after saving Ulises Jaimes’s header off a free-kick taken as a result of Aliyu Abubaker’s foul on Alejandro Diaz.

The Eaglets could have scored more goals but were unlucky as Yahaya’s chance in the 40^th minute rattled the cross bar before Awoniyi’s side-netted his chance of a pass from Kelechi Iheanacho.

With less than a minute to the end of the first half, Awoniyi’s bicycle kick was parried by goalkeeper Raul Gudino who was well positioned to clear away the Imperial Academy forward’s brilliant effort.

Golden Eaglets’ onslaught continued 11 minutes after the restart when Iheanacho put another past a shell-shocked Mexico, who showed their ineptitude at both ends when captain Musa Muhammed barrage of shots was parried into the way of Nigeria’s no 10 by Gudino.

Though, Raul Gutierrez made all his changes mid-way into the second half, that could not hand his team a glimmer of hope as Golden Eaglets stamped their authority in all departments of the game.

Mexico had a few chances to restore a little pride, but Ochoa’s header from close range went off target.

However, Muhammed sealed the win with less than nine minutes to play courtesy of a well taken free-kick outside the penalty area of the Mexican after Iheanacho was fouled by Teran.

In addition to this, Nigeria holds the record of the most goals in a single U17 World Cup tournament with 26 goals eclipsing the record set by Germany in Mexico 2011.

D’banj Signs Endorsement Deal With Globacom

Dapo ‘D’banj’ Oyebanjo has signed a multi-million Naira brand endorsement deal with Globacom Nigeria.

The Pop star has inked his second endorsement deal with the Nigerian telecommunications company after weeks of deliberations. D’banj now joins the likes of heavyweight contemporary musicians Psquare as well as recently unveiled ambassadors Naeto C, M.I, Lynxxx, Bez, Burna Boy, Flavour, Waje, Omawumi, and little known Chee.

Insiders tell us the deal is ‘unbelievable’; with those familiar with details saying it may be one of the costliest signings of 2013. Exact figures were not immediately available. But we learnt that just like his former deal with the company, this new ambassadorship will also come with added values, including an automobile, and major performance commitments.

D’banj and Globacom fell out in 2010 when the pop singer reportedly refused to extend his initial 2008 N70M two-year contract. Glo was allegedly offering something less, far less than what Psquare got (the Pop twins signed a whooping N240M with the company in 2010).

The whole trouble had however started back in 2008 when D’banj was replaced by Psquare after he allegedly demanded a N2M fee for every performance at the then GLO Campus Tour.

But it’s three years later and plenty has changed.

With GLO having lost the biggest names to competition, it’s understandable they’re reuniting with D’Banj, a true superstar with credible fan base, despite not having had a major fresh hit in years. And it’s a coup of sorts – as Etisalat had nearly reached an agreement with D’Banj to be one of their brand ambassadors. Etisalat is already in bed with top rappers Ice Prince and Olamide while there are rumours a 2face Idibia deal is also pending.

MTN Nigeria is currently winning the brand ambassadorship war triggered by the recent mobile number portability policy. The market leader has all the star power in their nest with the likes of Don Jazzy, Wizkid, Davido, Iyanya, Tiwa Savage, KCEE and a few other prominent acts all repping ‘yello’.

A rep from GLO ‘Charles’ tells us it is not in his place to talk about the signing. D’banj’s manager and Executive Director of DKM Group Tony Nwakalor did not pick or return our calls.

‘D’banj signed with who?!‘, Spice, a rep for D’banj told our reporter, apparently surprised.

It is expected that GLO will announce the deal in a matter of days.

Nigerian Faces 5 Years Imprisonment For Attempting Illegal Entry Into U.S

Kolawole Fakokunde, a Nigerian national, is facing up to five years’ imprisonment after he was arrested by immigration officers at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York for trying to enter the U.S illegally.

Fakokunde, who had a valid visitor’s visa on him, was arrested after telling a lie that failed to pan out. He had told U.S. authorities he was headed to Philadelphia to attend the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference. Unfortunately for him, the conference, one of the world’s largest law enforcement gatherings, had been over for about two weeks.

Media reports said the Nigerian arrived in the U.S aboard an Arik Airlines flight, claiming to be a prison guard. But, he later told a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer that someone else “helped him complete his visa application,” in which he falsely claimed to be a prison guard travelling to the U.S. to attend IACP.

Based on the information he provided at the time to the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs in Lagos, Fakokunde was issued a valid visitor’s visa.

He admitted that he was not employed as a prison guard, that he did not intend to travel to Philadelphia to attend the IACP conference, and that his true purpose for visiting the United States was vacation.

Fakokunde is standing trial in a U.S federal court for “knowingly and willfully” trying to use a U.S. visa obtained through false information

Nigerian man convicted of killing his 3yr old nephew for wetting bed

Ben Igbinedion, 43, has been found guilty of killing his 3 year old nephew, Daniel Evbuowman after they shared bed.

Ben, of Bromley, southeast London, reportedly assaulted the little child in the early hours of March 2, 2013, after discovering Daniel wet the bed he and his uncle were sharing. After the assault Igbinedion put the child in a different bed, but when other family members tried to wake Daniel in the morning, they found him unresponsive. Daniel was taken to a hospital where he died.

During his trial, the court heard that Daniel was put in the care of Igbinedion, who was also left in charge of his three children while his wife was at work. He told Daniel and his youngest son that they should sleep in his room, while his other two children sleep in their own room. One of Igbinedion’s children was woken by him telling off Daniel for wetting the bed, the jury was told.

A post-mortem found that Daniel died from major trauma to his ribs and pelvis, and established the injuries could not have been caused by a fall from a bed.

He was convicted yesterday November 7th for the little boy’s murder

Igbinedion’s testimony of the events of that night were contradicted by the accounts his children gave to police.

Speaking after the guilty verdict, detective chief inspector Graeme Gwyn said: “Ben Igbinedion’s violent actions resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy who had no chance of defending himself and devastated the lives of two families.

“Throughout the time since Daniel’s death, Igbinedion has continued to deny any involvement. However, a jury has seen through his story and convicted him of murder.”

In a statement read to the court, Daniel’s mother Augustina Kunu said: “How do I describe the loss of my only child Daniel? Daniel’s death has left me empty, heartbroken, lonely, lost, devastated and confused.

“I cannot concentrate or focus on my studies, I am unable to sleep and when I am able I wake up in tears because I can no longer see him lying by my side. I cannot get over Daniel’s death because of the bond we had.”

She added: “He was a brilliant son, a friend, a star, a hero and a help-mate. He would look into my eyes and say, ‘Mummy how are you?’ His death has affected my marriage, leaving it empty because Daniel was our dream, the pride and crown of our marriage.

“His dad, Victor, has been left broken-hearted, confused, lonely and empty. This whole matter has pulled our family apart. My prayer is that God will restore peace to our families.”

Igbinedion will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on November 22.

Ghanaian minister fired for saying she plans to make $1million from politics

A Ghanaian female deputy minister has been dismissed by the country’s President John Dramani Mahama after she allegedly said she will not quit politics until she makes at least one million dollars.

“I will not quit politics until I make one million dollars. If you have money then you can control people.” She also criticized another minister, the deputy minister of gender, children and social protection, Rachel Appoh, in the leaked tape. She said “it was useless for the deputy minister to fight Nana Lithur whose husband is friends with former President Jerry Rawlings and was President Mahama’s lawyer during the 2012 election challenge. She cannot boast of 100,000 Ghana cedis or 100,000 dollars.

The Ghanaian government released a statement today announcing her dismissal, but didn’t give any reason for the sack. That’s how politics works in Ghana. She was sacked for what she intended to do and not what she’s done already.

Cossy Orjiakor Insures Her Bréast For $1.6 Million Dollars, People To Pay Before They Touch or See

Nollywood actress and self-styled vixén, Cossy Orjiakor struck gold yesterday when an American company agreed to insure her signature bósoms for $1.6 million dollars. The company, Enhanced Silicón Inc.

famous for insuring the bosóms of Pamela Anderson and Dolly Parton agreed to the deal just before Cossy Orjiakor’s recent birthday bash, where she displayed her endowments for the world to see.

The star will travel to Los Angeles in two weeks to sign on the dotted lines.

That means that Enhanced Silicon Inc. will determine how much a movie producer will pay each bosóm for an appearance in a movie.

“The downside of the deal is that I may get dressed more often now,” says Cossy Orjiakor.
