Ronaldinho's brother jailed for money laundering
Ronaldinho's brother, Roberto de Assis, has been sentenced to five years and five months in prison after being found guilty of money laundering.
De Assis withheld information from the Brazilian Central Bank in relation to financial transfers from overseas to bank accounts within his homeland between 2003 and 2004.
The defendant was also found to have had bank accounts in Switzerland, the details of which he did not disclose to the relevant authorities.
De Assis, who serves as his sibling's manager, agent and adviser, will serve his time in a semi-open security facility but retains the right of appeal.
